PTOLEMY XIII Ptolemy XIII had the biggest impact on Cleopatra's life. At the ripe age of eleven he was her co-regent and her enemy. He was also a cowardly brat, whose dastardly advisors, led by Pothinus the eunuch, manipulated him to their own political gain. Ptolemy (and his Advisors) saw Cleopatra was ruling independently of him and conspired to strip her of her power and exile her to Syria. PtomelyÕs (and his Advisors') attempts to impress Caesar by gifting him the head of Pompey (Caesar's adversary) failed miserably and ultimately led to his loss of the Alexandrian War. He drowned in the Nile fleeing from the palace. Ptolemy's portrait shows his relationship with his Advisors and how it led to his downfall. |
