CLEOPATRA VI It is unclear what the fate of Cleopatra VI was. Most sources have no information other than the fact that she was the eldest of Cleopatra's siblings. One source, however, speculates that after her father, Ptolemy XII, fled Egypt she assumed the throne only to be killed by Berenice, who then took her place as ruler of Egypt. We view Cleo VI as an innocent. She assumed responsibility in the absence of her father only to fall victim to the all-to-often underestimated vengeance of "middle child syndrome" Cleo VI's portrait is meant to communicate her passive role in the events that led to the younger Cleopatra's reign as well as her ambiguous fate. |
